Congratulations Dr. Addy Meira

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) would like to congratulate Dr. Addy Meira, our Instructional Technologist, for a successful doctoral defense at Baylor University on Monday, November 3 in Waco, TX. Dr. Meira is a graduate of Baylor University (Waco) with a bachelor degree in Fine Arts (class of ‘06), a master’s degree in Science of Education (class of ‘08), and will graduate with her Ed.D also from Baylor University this December. Dr. Meira’s dissertation was a case study on the state of acceptance of new media projects as Ed.D. capstone experiences. Conferences and Consultations with Instructional Designer, Lisa Hammonds

Our very own Lisa Hammonds, Instructional Designer, presented at T-BUG (Texas Blackboard User Group) Conference this past week in Houston, TX. T-BUG is an organization for those who use Blackboard products and the group facilitates sharing of best practices and solutions to problems. Lisa’s presentation, “Blackboard Three R’s – Rewards, Retention and Rubrics,” highlighted how to incorporate Blackboard’s achievement, retention center and rubrics features to increase communication with students, engage students with course content and keep them on track for success. “Best-in-Track Award” at SLOAN-C

The CETL was recognized at the Sloan Consortium 7th Annual Emerging Technologies for Online Learning International Symposium. The CETL was honored with the Best-In-Track Award for their efforts in faculty and student development, specifically regarding “Gamification and Faculty Development: Practices from a Pilot Program.”‌ The SLOAN-C Emerging Technologies Symposium is devoted to the emerging and innovative uses of technology designed to improve teaching and learning online. The conference focuses on the technologies that drive online learning effectiveness, highlighting research, applications and best practices of important emerging technological tools.
