THIS WEEK AT THE CETL – 10.21.2013

Hello everyone!

Now is your LAST CHANCE to register for the Instructional Strategies for Linguistically Diverse Students workshop, led by Elsa Anderson and Patsy Robles-Goodwin. These workshops will help faculty develop academic skills in non-native English speakers. There are two opportunities to attend –  Friday, October 25th from 12:00 – 4:00 pm and Saturday, October 26th, from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm. Food will be served at each workshop. Please register for your preferred workshop by 5:00 pm on October 22nd so we can have an accurate count for lunch and/or breakfast!

All faculty also have the opportunity to learn everything there is to know about the IDEA Student Ratings of Instruction directly from the IDEA Center! Dr. Shelley Chapman will be on campus November 5th and will conduct an IDEA 101 workshop from 12:15 – 1:30. Register now! There are also other opportunities during the day to speak with Dr. Chapman individually. Just email us here at CETL to set up an individual appointment.

Great workshops this week as well! Check out:

This week’s featured book is Completing College: Rethinking Institutional Action by Vincent Tinto. This book has rapidly become THE book on completion and retention strategies. It has a wealth of research and advice on institutional action necessary to improve student retention and success. We’ve got two copies to lend, so come take one home!

I really hope to see many of you Friday or Saturday at the Linguistically Diverse Student workshops.
